We envision the permanent home of St. Bernadette Academy to be a completely sustainable campus. The focus of the Campus will be the Chapel where we hope to celebrate the Sacrifice of the Mass regularly. The buildings will be environmentally friendly with as many sustainable features as possible: solar power, rain water catchment, passive solar heating, geothermal heating, use of natural light instead of florescent, non-toxic building materials made from renewable resources. This will enable us to free up funds to be directed towards the children's education while helping God’s creation in the process.
There will be ample green space, not only for the children to play in, but to be utilized in every day lessons. Science class can be conducted on the grounds observing nature in real life, teachers lesson plans will certainly be made with the outdoors in mind, expanding on the curriculum through applied learning, children will work in the dirt growing food to be utilized in the lunch program and surplus will be sold as a passive fundraiser.
Another important aspect of the Saint Bernadette Academy Campus will be a “Parent Resource Room”. This area will include resources for parents to borrow, books, audios, videos, and DVDs educating on our philosophies, parenting and theology resources. The Parent Resource Room will be connected to an inclosed outdoor play area for little ones as well as an indoor area for playing, making this a great room for moms to meet during the school day.
Our complete vision when seen to it’s fullness will allow St. Bernadette Academy’s day to day operations to be run on a minimal budget. This stress free environment will also be a model for other schools, public or private, in the city, state and nation.
We hope that you will help us to see this vision to fruition and entrust us to help you make your children into Saints. |
